Hi! I’m Siân…
I honestly can’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t have a camera in my hand.
From disposable cameras and point-and-shoots to DSLRs, mirrorless systems and the phone in my pocket, there has always been some way of capturing the world around me. Photography isn’t simply something I do; it is woven into the way I experience life.
It’s how I see, how I feel and how I remember. It’s also how I cross that invisible line between feeling like an outsider and finding a moment where everything suddenly feels still, centred and exactly where I’m meant to be.
I began my career photographing weddings and live events before moving into beauty, fashion and portraiture through my work at sianelizabeth.co.uk. I still love that world, but somewhere along the way it became impossible to ignore where my heart really was: outside, among wildlife and wild places.
Wildlife photography is perhaps the only thing that gives me endless patience. I can - and have - spent hours sitting in freezing wind, rain and distinctly questionable conditions for the chance of one photograph. But the image is only part of it. Being out there teaches you to notice things: a shift in behaviour, a fleeting expression, a change in light, or one tiny detail that most people would walk straight past.
My M.E diagnosis forced me to slow down and experience the world differently. It changed what I could do, but it also changed what I noticed.
And somewhere in that slower pace, I found my way back to the place that has always felt most like home.
In the Wild.
